I am really new to jeeps and have my 74' CJ5 project jeep. I keep reading on here about swapping this axle for that one, etc.... I live in Louisiana and we don't have many big rocks or mountains here, last time I looked. I am pretty sure my jeep has the stock axles on it, dana 30s front and dana 44s rear. I mostly plan on mudding around here, unless a fault line all of the sudden shows up. Do I need to swap my axles for sturdier ones? I might put a 2" suspension lift on later and I have 31"x10.5s on it.
Just lookin' for some friendly advice.

Nope you will not need to change your axles with the 31s.

Run whatcha got, upgrade only if things break. Actually only upgrade if you break the same thing twice...the first time is because it's an old Jeep...;)

The only "upgrade" I would do, stronger front axle joints on the D30.
If they are still fresh then dont fool with them though.
Toss in a lunch box locker in the back and your good to go.

a lockrite or something like that. Basicly a locker that goes inside of the stock carrier.
