Will these work with my stock seat frames?

I think he said they are later model CJ seats with Bestop covers.

my back is killing me trail riding with the stock spring seats.

Try it with the later model ones if you can. They're nice. :D

later model low backs? I have stock seats or the option of running those seats in the pic. but i am worried they will sit too high.

Later model lowbacks are foam-based, rather than spring based. Plus the passenger side folds and tumbles for rear seat access. They also sit a bit lower than the spring versions, IMHO.

I really like them - SSDutch is pretty stiff yet...the seats really take up the slack.

Well, honestly I don't know how high they'd sit on the stock frames. If you're referring to the seat back being high they're not that high.

With the fiberglass tub the seats in my Jeep sit a bit different than a stock Jeep would.

thanks for the info. last time out my back hurt for about 3 days after some rough sections of trail and i could feel the seat frame on my rear the next day. Foam would be much nicer.

You might could mount 'em to the stock frame and add a spacer under the front to tip it back more like it would be in a stock later CJ?

Don't know for sure. They are nice though. Oakes put some from a '76 CJ in the orange Jeep I have now. Made for a comfy 5+ hour drive home when I picked up the Jeep.

    Nice...

how tall of a spacer would you say? maybe 1-2" that could be an option for me. i am not worried where i sit...i should be fine cause the bases are about the same. I am worried that those seats on stock frames will be taller than the Windshield

    would they?

the seat in my 67 look similar to those, and do sit up a little high when mounted to the original frames, as did the new low backs when i replaced them in my 71. they should work, but might need to have mounting brackets made for them. after about a days work i had the lowbacks sitting right where the originals had.

The seats are later model CJ...
I can fab up some mounting brackets. that shouldn't be too bad. any thoughts on tilting them back just a bit? did you try anything like that?

to tell you the truth i was just happy to get them sitting as low as they did originally... everything has the same pitch to it as they did stock and the back of the seats are just about sitting on the floorboard. i didn't have any quarrels with the tilt of the seat, so i didn't really look into making them tilt any more.

I put a set of Bestop high backs in my 66CJ5 on the original frames. Everything works fine except they sit 1-2 ' closer to the dash because they cannot be set back as far on the frames before they contact the rear fender wells. Height is not a problem but I did not use the 4 spacers that were below the original low back drivers seat on my CJ5

I'm just guessing you have the original seats for the 57 in the cj right now? if so you'll probably have to make up a mounting bracket for it anyways. On mine, there's a piece of 1" square tubing that goes from door opening to door opening for the front mounting support, and another piece that fits between the 2 fenders. Another small piece of tubing goes in the center from the front to back tubes. Kinda makes an "H". I think I have about an inche spacer in the front under the seats and it makes for a nice incline to the seats.

I do have the original seats and I still sit on my gas tank...i think mounting the pass. side wouldn't be bad. but i am afraid of it being to tall on the drivers side since the seats aren't designed to sit over a tank.

I have the underseat tank too. The way mine is, the bracket only bolts in 4 spots. On the top lip of the door opening on each side, and one each behind each seat. It sits about 1/2" above the gas tank.

Makes it really easy to pull the seats out if you ever need to get them out of the way. 4 bolts and they both come out.
