If I jack up the rearend and I turn one wheel forward the other one goes backward...does this mean I have a posi rearend or a locker? Its a Dana 44 with 5.38 tag on it.

Open means you're really only powering one wheel, and it's going to be the one with the least traction.

Limited slips (posi's) and lockers are "traction aiding differentials" that help get power to both wheels.

Limited slips transfer power up to a point, but allow some slippage under certain conditions (can be good or bad depending on the situation). Lockers are a more solid connection - again good or bad depending on the situation.

No, if you had posi then both wheels would turn in the same direction when you did that.
