Trying to nurse my wiring along until I decide on a new body/wiring kit.. everything was working, then the right side tail light went out. Fixed a few loose connections and got the tail light and blinker working. But still no brake light. (left side works fine).

Trying to follow the wiring diagram in an old Chilton manual is blinding me. Before I start getting neck kinks under the dash, anyone got a quick suggestion what it might be I should look for? Since there's two wires and 3 modes (brakes/turn/lights), I've been trying to figure if its the turn/brake that share a wire - since you can have the brake on and it seems the turn signal breaks that circuit as it blinks.

    thanks, Jim

make sure that particular brake light fixture is well grounded. and check the power lead all the way to the switch for continuity.

Yes the turn and brake share the same wire. The running lights are on their own circuit

Thanks for suggestions. If turn and brake are on same wire and turn works well, perhaps ground is good? I'll double check regardless - the mount is getting pretty rusty.

So my problem may be further upstream, I'm thinking. /jim

What are you using for a brake light switch? A pressure switch on the master or a mechanical one on the pedal? I had a pressure switch die on the master and replaced it.That solver the problem at the time but I have since switched to disk brakes on the front so it was eliminated when I swapped out the masters.

It must be mechanical on the pedal. I had swapped out drums for disks and brake lights still worked. I have the same master in there - brakes seem to work but that is another issue.

Brake light does work on the left side. I may not work on it tonight.. getting kinda comfortable after a day of work. Have to investigate later.

Well, it fixed itself. I didn't have to do anything except put it in my shop. That scared it into good health. Wish that worked on a few other problems. cheers, jim
