front shackles and bushings on 56 cj5.

    Wow I did it as you can see one is before sandblasting and painting but it is the same frame.

    You can get the "C" style from any of the .com places we all frequent. I would use the "H" style if it were my jeep, though.

    Try these on for size. I didn't measure my shackle but if I remember right it is a 1.5" longer than the stock "C" shackle. It helped me out in the caster department. flat tows better.

    Thanks for everyones help. Willysnut where did you get these shackles and did they come with the bushings that go through the threaded hole. Or did you get those seperate.

    is there any reason that I shouldn't replace left handed lugs with right now that I have them out for the disc brake conversion and lift?

    Clay, As mentioned before, M.O.R.E. probably has the nicest quality/finish of any of the replacement shackles and since you're restoring a looker I would pick these http://www.mountainoffroad.com/more.htm

    I put new C shackles in last summer and they are a pain. For my restore, I think I'll get a set of these.

    Sorry for the delay my ISp went down for 24hrs. I ended up buying two bushing sets for a later year jeep it came with the stock length shackle also. Bought mine off ebay for 40 bucks for all four.
