    Hey guys,
I have the opportunity to buy a 69 commando with a dauntless, this is a parts only car. The transmission and transfer case are gone, but pretty much everything else is there. The guy only wants 150 bucks and I'm thinking I'll offer him 75 is it worth it to have this just for the motor, he doesn't know when it last ran and doesn't know the vechicle history and there is no title so as I said, parts only.I'm thinking it may be worth it.
    Thanks,
    sean

If you're willing to do the work to part it out, I'd think so. Especially if you have a CJ ready to accept that motor. Check that the motor isn't frozen. Lots of the parts from the Heapster are worth having.

    Where are you located?

the chrome front bumper will fit on a tuxedo park jeep, or any cj5/6 for that matter.

That will net you around half to three quarters of the cost of the jeep just by itself.

    Thanks for the responses,
I know it seemed like a stupid question, it can't hurt to have an extra motor. I currently am about to buy a cj-5 71 off a guy down the road, a great find actually, he wasn't advertising it, and after talking with him he is going to sit on until I get the funds together, he is really a great guy. The 71 is all original paint, montana/colorado jeep, with the dauntless and a t-18. This gentlemen has a bunch of jeeps, including, an fc170dw, a 2 cj2s, cj3b,comando, 2 willys wagons two or so gpws and a willys truck to name a few. Anyhow,I am located in montana, the commando actually has an ok body but not title. As for checking the motor to see if it's frozen up, thats my next move. I think I'm going to be getting this thing wednesday. By the way jeepsterman, my brother lives in southgate, on argyle off of fort street. I grew up downriver, small world. I may be back at christmas to visit so maybe I could see your collection. Thanks again guys.

A '71 CJ with original paint, and the original T-18 is a collectible IMO. Not many OEM V6-T18 Jeeps out there. UWOP though.

    OE trany

fill me in guys, how can you tell if it's OE, and or what am I missing that boyink was eluding to. Also has anyone ever used a commando frame for a cj-6 buildup? According to several books I've read by Foster they used the same frame, has anyone ever done this.
    thanks

There would a lot of work redoing things like spring hangers and what not. Pretty much the only thing the frames shared was the 101" wheel base. If you get the commando, I'm usually looking for parts. Where abouts are you located?

    Sean,

Your brother lives about 4 or 5 streets from me. I live on Catalpa. Let me know if you get over this way at Christmas.
