Ok, I finally got around to taking pictures of this.

What the heck is it for? Looks to be a large gear mounted to the back of the parking brake drum and then some sort of bracket.

The only time I ever saw something like this was on a jeep trencher.

There was an external gear like you show, and a lever that extended to the side of the jeep.

In the trench mode the operator would push on the lever and get an ultra, ultra low gear that would push the jeep forward (or backwards I suppose)

    Hmm, interesting.

The JEEP, Eugene, does have Transport Yellow under the green everywhere that I've found it uncovered.

    Frame has been heavily reinforced.

Interesting. The story on the Jeep with a Commando VIN, 198 V6, Intermediate windshield and now trenching equipment gets more interesting. R)

Huh, thats pretty cool if Eugene was originally a trencher. I thought that someone had just retrofitted some type of oddball drum on there instead of the original.

Yes, but not right now, we just got a lot more rain. :D

What are you wanting to see, so I'll be sure to get it in the pic.

Normally the Spicer 18H pto would have a brass case around it, later some other metal, w/ another gear. They were chain driven and the pto not only drove the trencher but also the jeep to keep them in sync. The gear on your drum is different than the jeep a trenches that I have seen. It could also be for a mower attachment or maybe Go For Digger. Go For Diggers are very cool looking.

That and that bracket are all that's there.

I'll get a shot from the rear tonite if it's not too wet/rainy.

Mower was my first thought to Kodiak.

I'll get one but like I said, best I can recall that drum and bracket are all that's left besides lots of frame reenforcement.

Is that drum in place of the parking brake?? Or is it housed inside??

I was trying to look at it last nite and figure out if it was somehow bolted on the back or what had been done. Not really sure.

Man that's an odd looking thing. Maybe there was another set of gears that
meshed w/ those on the drum. And that bracket held the shaft. Interesting.
