Overheating

Hope someone can help me with this one.

75 CJ5 258/6..38,000 original miles..been in storage for the last ten years and I'm finally doing some much need maintainance. Just had new brakes installed and this last weekend changed oil, installed new water pump, 195 thermostat, changed coolant and installed new plugs and a HEI distributor.

Temperature gauge slowly rises to the far left of the green bar and stays there whether jeep is idling or on the road. I turned heater on full blast and also made sure timing was dead on with a timing light. Also pressure cap seems to be working properly. Both heater hoses are hot to the touch as well as upper radiator hose. Lower radiator hose is hot but doesn't seem to have much coolant running through it.

I'm used to temperature gauges being in the middle range at operating temperature, and then you have some fluctuation depending on load, temperature, etc. With it being 80% in the hot range, that doesn't leave much room for play....Is this normal or does anyone have any suggestions on what the problem might be ? Thanks !

 

Plugged Radiator? Had a simular problem on my S-10 and my CJ2A. Took the radiators to a old Mom and Pop joint, they boiled and rodded the tubes and problem was cured on both.

 

It could be as simple as a high reading gauge. My stock gauge in my 72 used to read at the high end of normal but my aftermarket reads a steady 185
