Part storage protection?

Howdy all. Redoing my storage of drivetrain goodies and was wondering how everyone else looks after their parts. I spray on some Felpro waxy stuff (sorry can't remember the name at this moment) and then put in in a plastic zip lock bag. Yesterday I noticed some surface rust on some off my items. Stored in a unheated shed for 6 years no water in side the bldg ie no leaking roof. Reason I'm haveing to go thru the stuff is my house finally sold after 2 years.We had a big forest fire in 03 that burnt down the sawmill I worked at but spared the town.So no job but a house that was ok. So we had to relocate once again Mommas getting tired of this.
