Hope someone can answer this one for me..I've gone through my Hayes manual and the 75 Service manual, as well as a search on this site and no answer..so here goes......

If you are facing your engine (mines a 75 258/6) there are two hoses that go into the heater core just under the battery tray. Which one....left or right..is for the heater inlet.I know that the hose coming out of the top of the thermostat housing goes to the inlet side, but I'm not sure which is which under the battery tray....thanks !!

I don't know that it really matters for a heater core, but I don't use a battery tray & just looked at my set-up on my '74 232. the smaller diameter hose from the thermo housing feeds the right (inside) nipple on the firewall (facing firewall).

by design, the hose coming from the discharge side of your water pump should enter the top of the heater core, the return line should exit the bottom of the core. ( heat rises )

real world, once hot water is flowing through the core, shouldn't matter which way it is hooked up. $.02
