Has the overheating slowed down now that you've found 2Hi?

It sounds like you're getting there.

As I always said "By the time she's broken in, she'll start breaking out."

yea overheating i think was caused by that and an airlock ..the thing is ... the transfer case shifter is very loose because i had to makeshift a part that the lever rotates on back and forth its a pin that gos threw the lever to the mount and i just used a bolt and a welder till i get a twin stick ..so there wont be too much t case shifting till then . it seems like 1st gear and 2nt are like turtle slow and when i let my foot off the gas in 3rd she slows down quick because of gearing ... and i get foot cramps pressing the gas and i have to lift my leg up all the way to put on the clutch .. i think im gonna have to do that wheel well mod after all ... id just hate to do that to an origional jeep ...

Just a tip, for initial break-in on a new/rebuilt engine, I did a stationary start-up procedure involving different lower RPMs and left the radiator cap off & used a garden hose trickling into the radiator just enough to trickle over.

This tip came from my Uncle (retired Chief Mechanic NY City Sanitation, Dept. of Maintenance & a few other mechanics) - Break it in according to mfgr's. recommendations for the first 200 to 300 miles (his initial break-in was less for Dept. vehicles), then go out on an empty strip & accelerate the way you'll drive it up to max RPM, then instantly let off the throttle, repeat 10 times. The vacuum created from this run will help to seat the rings & also proof any weak points in the rebuild. Then drive her the way you'll run her.

I looked that that wheelwell mod & if you're ruinning 33's w/a 4" lift, also planning on some moderate to severe flex, I wouldn't do it. It looks like you'll tear right into a 33 w/the fix. I have a tubular seat mount that I modified & use an '85 Bronco tilt highback. I have a pair in maroon velour (1 good condition, driver's side is rough) & if you have some tilt highbacks in vinyl, I'll swap even up, you cover shipping.

32's here, 1" lift, with a sagging rear body and still had no issues with the tire meeting the wheelhouse notch. At full stuff there was still 1.25" between the tire and notch.

The variable being how deep you make the notch. I went 1.75" which made a world of difference in legroom while keeping the notch from intruding into the wheelwell very far.

Complete writeup and pics are here.
