Reverse is gone!

I was parking the jeep today put it in reverse started letting out on the clutch it moved a little then very loud grinding tried again same thing but then it was stuck in reverse. It Goes into 1st fine. I haven't checked anything yet. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

well, noise is never good news
I'd start by draining the trans oil
pull the plug and check for metal chunks, teeth, coming out with the oil
then I'd pull the floorbaord cover and the trans top cover
with the oil drained, you can see all the gears
look at the smallest gear off to the side at the rear, at the bottom of the case
it's called reverse idler, and I'll wager it's damaged
