installing distributer

    well i got the engine at TDC. so i just slide the distributer in and where the rotor is aimed ,that is cylinder number #1?

    also is advance happen when twisting the distributre clockwise? or counterclockwise? Want to make sure i get the cap spaced right from the intake corner.

    Actually Dan 5 deg BTC is where #1 should be on the compression stroke, if its a f 134 I believe. There is a metal plate pointing down twords the pully with 5 Deg BTC on the far left and TDC to the right of that. There are only 2 markings so you can't get confused. The plate is somewhat hard to read though.

    it's either number one or two. so it's either right or 180 out (there's no offset key on my buicks like there was on my l-head). problem is it'll sound right at idle when 180 out, but won't be able to pull; you'll be missing the passenger bank. if that happens just yank it and replace a half turn over...

    and for your other question, i believe rotation is clockwise?? so advance should be counter clockwise.
