I recently broke the rear output shaft on my dana/spicer 20 tcase on an excursion. I was wondering about an upgrade. I know that Advance has an upgrade but its 1.5" longer and I already have a very short dshaft (14.75"). Are there any others?

I shortened my 3-spd. d20 '74 232 front & rear shafts. I think the rear was shortened by about 3/8" of an inch, no more than 3/4" and I've only blown 1 U-joint in about 15 yrs. My mechanic even removed approx. 1/2" of shims from the tranny when he re-installed it.

Each individual set-up will have it's own peculiarities and limits.

I would think that Advance would have a bellhousing adaptor to match the t-case legth.

One alternative is to carry an extra output housing. You should be able to buy 3 or 4 complete D20s for the price of the AA output housing.
