    I need your help
    recently I own a 1977 cj5 jeep powered by a 258 AMC
but I discovered that the oil dipstick was not the correct
for this model so, it was lying me!!
Since it´s being hard to get an original one, Someone recomended me to buy an standard length and then just cut it as neccesary
So I was wondering if you can please help me with the correct length and level distance of an original or something else to fix the problem.

    I really appreciate your support

    Ed

Drain the oil then put five quarts in then start the engine to refill the filter. Stop the engine and alow the oil to drain back, make a line on the dipstick this will be your one quart low line. Put in another quart and mark the dipstick again for the full line.

Measuring from the bottom of the handle/cap it measures 10 7/16” to full mark, 11” to add and 11 13/16” to tip.
