Now i know I have a Delco Distributor (thanks jpflat2a!) I want to get rid of the points and add electric ignition, but I don't want to buy a new dist? What are my options?

Pertronix would be a good option
    lots here have done that
    replaces what you just installed
have you tried a search under Pertronix ??

I just installed a pertronix in my 69' CJ-5 with a delco dist...super easy to install and I must say it works really well, my idle is much smoother and overall the jeep seems to run better. I know you can also widen the gaps on the spark plugs for increased gas mileage, I still have mine @ .035 but I might try a new gap around .050 - .055 when I swap in new plugs and see how that goes. I say go for the pertronics..I got it from my local parts store for $89, the part number you need is the 1165, just make sure you get the gaps right per the instuctions and your all set.

There is also the GM HEI conversion but I have no experience with that, I just got my Jeep too and went straight for the pertronix and couldn't be happier! Eitherway its definitely a good idea

NAPA should be able to get it. happy w/plugs @ .040. think that anything over .50 you need a hot hot coil or HEI.

I've been running the Pertronix #1165 in my Delco distributor for 10 years.
    It's worth every dime.
Try Summit Racing or Jegs for price comparison to the FLAPS you mentioned.
