So I went wheeling today in some rocks down town. I ended up grenading the front loc-right locker, my steering colum is dead, and I was taking it easy. I need fuel injection or a hand throttle or something, probably fuel injection. When I'm stuck in the rocks at a steep angle, It's hard to keep the engine running, keep a foot on the brake, and then slip the clutch repeatedly to rock the thing back and forth.

I know there have been a few people working at figuring out a fuel injection system for the odd-fires. Has anyone pulled it off yet? The v6 has plenty of power, and since I've got the 1976 231, it's got the stronger even fire bottom end I think. So I want to keep the engine. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I want to give it a shot.

If it is even fire then why not just put the factory fuel injection from a buick on?

FI never existed on RWD buicks, only FWD automatics. If say a 1985 FI was placed on a 231EF, it would likely work but the air inlet on the plenum would face the firewall. It is not entirely clear if the 1985 FWD intake plenum will match the heads but my research says definite maybe

Nobody has ventured here yet, looking for fabricators with spare time and a doner 1985 Oldsmobile/Buick. Maybe out at the Fowlerville proving grounds :D

A hand throttle is what you need. When the wheels start hopping, things start popping.

I would think a hand lever operated brake might work also
    much like a staging brake
    would free up one foot

My engine is an oddfire. A hand operated brake would work too, and would probably be easier to use than a hand throttle.

Of course I can't find it but I had a writeup on using the a tumb shifter for a bike on the Tranny Stick and how to set it up so your thumb does all the throttle work.

I am currently working on gathering parts and fabbing my intake adapter for a mega squirt system. In my opinion it is not a question of will it work its a question of simply doing it, I have messed with a friend of mines controller and done alot of reading on mega-squirts website, it has been done on dozens of oddfire motors that were not injected and done successfully. Unless you want tuned port or multi port injection it doesn't matter when you fire the fuel into the engine only that it is available for the cylinder to use unlike most current thinking and my past thinking. Mega-squirt is designed to use on a oddfire and actually has settings in the controller for such, all Harley motors are oddfire as well as several foreign motors that have been injected including V4's using this controller.

I'm working on mine right now. Fuel injection that is....Using Megasquirt. I met a guy on the MS web site who has already EFI'd his 225. I am getting close. Will work on a write up when it's done. It is very time consuming figuring everything out!!! I think it will be worth it when done.
