I have my trans and T/C all back together and am installing the OD. There is a weird 8 point nut that needs to be torqued to 100 lbs according to Herms instruction.
What kind of socket did you use to fit it. It looks like a weird one. Is it a special tool, where can I get one.
    Herm is not home today.

I believe any 1/2" drive extension fits inside the 8 point nut
then you have the special lock washer and snap ring to install

Yup 1/2" extension and a good pair of needle nose pliers for the weird shaped snap ring.

    Gregg -

I'm curious about the overdrive install. Did you buy the new Saturn or a rebuilt Warn? I'm looking at sliding one into my '56 and would love to know your thoughts on it

Just my thoughts on overdrives.... Very nice item but easily starved of oil if the the previous owner didn't care for it. Hint: don't buy an ebaY unit. IMO, spend the $700 for a Herm rebuild with linkage. You'll get the right stuff the first time and years of smooth operation. Every once in a while, a nice one will pop up here for sale on the forum from a reputable member for less.

I'd love to give you a knowlegeble reply, however my jeep came with this overdive and it was not running so I've never used it.
I rebuilt the motor, trans and transfer and sent the overdrive to Herm. I would highly recommend him. Herm was a big help to me even though I wasn't sending the trans and TC too him. I have a Ford 4 speed trans, it is the one the NASCAR guys used to run. RUG Top loader, 4 speed syncros and very strong.
