    Hi all,
Does anyone know if a T-90 rebuild kit will work in a T-86? The reason I ask is because mine has a T-86 case with a T-90 shift tower. I know some parts are interchangable.
    Thanks

Nope...herm can sell you a T86 rebuild kit. The blocking rings are slightly larger IIRC. Herm is the only source I know of. He has NOS blocking rings...as I don't think they are produced by anyone. The reverse idler has needle bearings on a T86...but not on a T90. I can't remember the rest of the differences. (Edit: I mean I can't remember all the differences that would make T90 small parts kit not work on a T86; the gears, shaft, etc are all different)

Actually, I think all T86's may have a cover that says T90 on them. The top is interchangeable, but the front shift fork is larger on a T86 due to the larger clutch sleeve.

Be sure to pull the cover and verify your tranny has T86 parts inside before ordering the kit. Someone could have swapped in T90 guts...just like I did on mine ;)
