    Hello folks
    Need to do some cutting on my copper gas lines.
    I'm putting in a new carb and I want to put in a gas filter.
    I don't want to mess up the line by just cutting with a pair of dikes.
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks
    Jason

    Copper gas lines? You sure they aren't steel? Copper wasn't used for fuel past the 20s or 30s - it fatigues from vibration.

    If you have steel (or copper) use a "mini tubing cutter" from Sears or your local hardware store. It's a little gadget that you spin around the line to cut a nice, square end.

    Yup, small pipe/tube cutter will work well.

    I've done brake lines, fuel lines and shower plumbing with mine. ;)

    If your fuel line really is copper, you should replace it with steel or aluminum. Copper acts as a catalyst in fuel oxidation, accelerating formation of varnish and particulates (sludge). Copper fuel lines are very prone to clogging, and contact with gasoline can lead to carb problems, especially if the Jeep is left to sit for any length of time.

    Copper = bad.

    Steel = gud.

    A little measuring fun and you can get pretty close with pre-fabbed lengths from your FLAPS, otherwise you can get a cheapy tubing cutter and mebbe rent a flaring kit from said FLAPS. YMMV, but get rid of the copper! :shock:

    If he's just adding an inline filter, won't need to flare the ends. Just connect with rubber hose.
