    Hello Folks
Putting on a new solex carb and was wondering if there are any tricks or is it just easy.
    Thanks

Jason, I see you've been where I was. I had a leaky YF; many of us have. So, you get a Solex. I whined about it for so long a most generous soul finally just gave me one so I'd shut up. It is a piece of cake to install, if you haven't already. You did get one specifically for an F-head, right? I hear JCwitless' version ain't right. Whatever. I need to modify my spark plug wiring loom to raise it enough to clear the cable and all. And you will need to redo your gas line into the carb. Easy to do. Hang in there, laddie, I'm learning a bit of tolerance with it myself. It's a touch cold blooded; my YF would fire and go all year round, but, this puppy is a little tempermental. I'm just mental.

It was easy for me. Got mine from Krage at much less than other vendors. I think the install took all of 10 mins. Best thing I did when I still had the F-head, improved my mileage considerably.

Save your YF carburetor. With the right float valve and float adjustment you may find that you would prefer YF over Solex.

Properly set up, the flooding problem goes away.

Since you have one, go ahead and give the ol' solex a try....

But hang on to the YF.

    It's pretty easy to do.

I think the 3B page has a pretty good section on the Solex.

Keep the YF but I doubt you'll use it again. ;)

I found the JC Whitney Solex unit is NOT set up with the correct linkage for an F134 even though they say it is. I got one from Willys Works and it WAS correct. Only thing I found with mine were the screws holding the top and bottom of the carb halves together were loose. Gently snugged them up and the rest was easy.

If you don't want to keep the YF -- I'll buy it
