cj5 body switch

Can you put a cj3-b body on a cj-5 chassis? Since my original body is long gone I am wondering if I should fix the cj body I have or replace the body. I like the looks of the old flat fendered jeeps and think it would be a cool swap.

Thanks again for the quick link. It is very helpful. I want to keep the body steel with the rear tailgate. Looking at the price of tubs it is anywhere from $1300.00 to $1800.00 difference in price for a cj3-b than the cj-5 body. I dont know why the big price difference but that extra money can go a long way on this rebuild.

Where are you located? If you shop around, you should be able to find a good used tub for less than half a new tub. Recall that a new tub already has the price of shipping from the PI factored in, so you can pay a lot for shipping on a used tub and still be way ahead.

 

Where would you shop around for a good used tube in Michigan? Ebay? Looks like a new tub is going to be about $2000.00 if I go that route. I still have the option of rebuilding my cj-5 tub. It has one bad fender (dented beyond repair) and some basic body rust on rear corners and rockers.
