Trailer springover??

    I am wondering about car haulers, i have not noticed any of them, but i have seen other trailers that have been 'spring over" the axles. Is this only for smaller traielrs or could a car hauler do a spring over also? If i can thorw the springs over my axles i can get the deck a little higher so i do not dig trenches with my traielr when backing it up into my backyard. I have the 4 inch drop axles already. just want to lift the deck up, didnt know if this is a possibility or i will just have to order straight axles instead of 4 inch drop axls.

    Don't do it Dan. you won't like how it handles on the highway. IMHO you gotta keep the center of gravity as low as possible on a trailer, because you are adding a whole vehicle (Jeep) into the mix, that already has a very high COG to it to begin with. Low COG and a minimum of 15% tongue weight and you will be good to go. Anything less and , well you know what happened to us! :oops:

    OK. i was just curious, i didnt know why some trailers are bult like that and some are not. Thanks!

    I've done spring overs on 4 camp trailers.....
    All were fine, but the shorter single axle ones tend to sway more after they're lifted.....

    would go w/straight axles and larger tires (maybe 1-2" bigger) and relocate the fenders.

    Here's a quick tip for anybody who needs a bit stiffer spring on a trailer. You can purchase half-springs with an angled bend (any truck centre) in them to bolt to the rear of the trailer springs for a little more stiffness.
