I have a '74 304 with 44000mi. On startup and on idle I have a lifter that ticks a little. Not the end of the world, but is annoying. I have read good things about seafoam and would like some feedback from y'all on your experiences and if its a good idea.

Not having seeing the inside of a 304, i've had good luck adjusting the lifter. I just removed the valve cover. Then started it up, and with my thumb pushed down on each lifter until I found the one that was making noise. Then with a little adjustment noise never came back.

be aware that the source of the noise could also come from the rocker "pivot' or aluminum "bridge"; wear between the rocker arm and the pivot can make the same sound; if worn, usually replacing the rocker arm and pivot together is necc

Before you change the oil next time put some Automatic tranny fluid in the oil. (the kind with detergent in it) I have fixed a couple sticky lifters that way. Change the oil after it has run for an hour or so.
