I have a 1979 CJ5, and I am trying to remove the inner workings of the steering column. There are threaded holes on either side of the column, and there is some kind of tool that screws into there to push in a spring loaded pin to release everything. I cannot fine any such tool, nor can I figure out how to get it apart without breaking something. Does anyone have any suggestions? The part that I am trying to replace is called the Lock Rack, there is a descent view of it on autozone.com but it does not say how to depress the pins.

If you have an autozone nearby they have a tool loaning deal. They should have the lock plate removing toll thingamajig. TRUST me you REALLY need this thing to get it apart. BTDT
