    my husband and i just acuired an early model jeep, has 4 cyl. eng., t-90 trans., rounded fenders(like cj5), l-head 134. was trying to id axles, has numbers 17038 and letter A stamped in it. been looking at web sites, cover looks to be front dana 25/27 could be 44. was wondering if anyone knows a cross for that number, think year model is between 55-59???? we will be selling eng. runs good may need carb. work, will be swapping for buick v6, will trade or sell at good price. any advice on swap would be greatly appericated. :AMC:

    Well, if it has rounded fenders it must be a CJ5. Any pictures? That would help us id the Jeep. Front axle should be a 25, rear would be a 44. The number 25 should be cast on the top portion of the pumpkin, 44 should be on the lower portion somewhere, offhand I can't think of exactly where to look.

    If the engine is truly a Jeep I -134 engine I'll buy the engine from you over the phone.

    Can you send me a private message or e-mail with a picture of the valve rocker arms with the valve cover removed?

    I'm coming through Georgia in the next two - three weeks.

    I would love to slide that engine in one of my jeeps.

    If you are wanting to know what year jeep it is, post the serial number and we can tell you

    It should begin with one of the following
    57548
    8305
    8322

    With an I-134 it probably is 57548, but may begin with something else
