Hmm..there's a thought for getting the round parts. This diamond plate is just a pain with anything like sanding - so many edges to work with. Wish I'd have bought the smooth versions now...

The aircraft remover worked well where it was deep enough to pool up under the powdercoat - those areas just hosed off. I think if I buy some more and get it a bit deeper and leave it overnight again we'll be in good shape.

    Maybe brass?

Trying not to have to sand these things to get them paint-ready again...

Wire brush gives good surface for adhesion. I used a brass wheel I picked up at TSC on the air cleaner on my surburban and primed and painted when I got through it looked almost like the factory finish on valve covers. Poor paint match not the preparation in this case ;)

I dug out what was left of a braided wire wheel...and was able to get one corner looking pretty good (almost bling-like) before all the wire shed off.

FWIW - brake clean, carb clean, none of that stuff would touch this powdercoat. I've had a growing disssatisfaction with powdercoated stuff because it didn't seem much tougher or nicer looking than paint, and just seemed to do a better job at retaining water around little nicks which would then turn into rust spots.

The coating on these things was way thicker and tougher than anything else I've bought that was powder coated. I'd be much more likely to pay for powdercoating if I could get it done this well.
