brake issues, help

I have a 1978 CJ5 and the brake booster has gone out. Easy you say well none of the parts stores that I can find have this part in there data bases. they say that there's one for a 81-86 but none for the 78-80. But on the same page there is two listings for a master cylinder, for a 1978, one with boosted brakes and one without.

does any one know if the 81-86 will work or if there is another brake booster that will give more boost than stock? like a 1982 caddy booster or some odd thing.

Without finding a replacement, you still have a few alternatives. You can send your existing booster to a specialty rebuilder like this one http://www.resleeve.com/ (there are probably others - that's what I came up with quickly). Or you can go to manual brakes.
