If you want it to last cut out the rot and replace with new metal. Pre-cut floor boards are available as well as the hat channel. Not hard to fabricate or make patterns and take to local sheet metal shop have them cut and bend then you weld in.

Eastwood sells pre bent channel thats almost a perfect match. Also check www.classicent.com. I've also gone to a local sheet metal shop and had them bent up. They are hat channels that's what I refered to them as above.

I welded in some 1 x 2 channel which slips right over the original hat channel:

Yes, cutting out all the rot would be the better way to go, but I didnt want to get in that deep. This will do for a good long time.

BTDT There is a reason rust is sometimes called cancer. Rust is just like the nasty stuff that gets in your body. You have to get it all out to cure it or it will come back. I was in your position about 9 years ago before replacement floor channels were available. The one available from classic are great. Order some up, cut out the old rusty stuff and weld them in!

who makes a replacement floor? i need one too ... also anouther idea that i think im gonna try is putting in skuppers off of a sail boat .. they drain the water out and you can open and close them with a pull of a tab ... work great

Sources for the channels and floorboards were mentioned earlier in the post.

A discussion forum works better if answers to questions are posted on the board itself - that way everyone benefits from the information.
