I've had my P/S in since '98 and would never go back! Really noticed the difference when in the SoCal rocks. (when I lived there)

YES! Power steering is WAY better than manual steering! I suppose if all you do is dirt roads and fire roads than manual might be ok, but any large rocks or even ruts at speed will rip the steering wheel out of your hand. One must be carefull of ones thumbs with manual steering. :D

I have a buddy who has ram assist steering on his grand cherokee. He can move boulders with it! R) Looks like a potential future mod.

Is the steering box behind the bumper or on the frame next to the firewall? The 67 did not have Saginaw steering unless it's been converted.

ohh okay...so how would i go about converting mine to power steering, i wouldnt mind having manual steering but i am going to put aftermarket seats in my jeep and i would have to put a smaller steering wheel in it to allow for more room and i would think it would be hard to turn with that smalled steering wheel

I got mine out of a Waggy. full sized chevy cars also are another good source.

Just to add the pro-manual steering side of things - it depends on the size of tires you will be running and where you will be using the Jeep. I have manual saggy and am fine with it with 33"s. I think as long as you keep a big enough steering wheel, leverage is not a big deal. Also, one less thing to fail on the trail (IMHO). Also, power steering can be hard on steering components if you wedge up against a rock and try and turn the wheel.

I'm not religous against power steering - just adding some points to consider. ;)
