Body lift question

    What is the downside of running a 2" body lift with a 2 1/2" suspension lift?

    4wheelparts' website says they won't sell a body lift for installation on a vehicle that already has a suspension lift, but a book I bought on Jeeps says that a body lift is good because you can fit bigger tires and not raise your Jeep's center of gravity as much as with a suspension lift. Whats the deal?

    Hmm...

    Biggest disadvantage of larger body lifts is having to re-work things like through the floor pedals, shift levers, etc. That and the visual aspect of seeing "air" between the frame and body. Personally I wouldn't go over 1" on an ECJ.

    I don't see a relationship between body and suspension lift though...seems like lots of guys run combinations of them.

    Frame and body flex become more of an issue. Frame goes this way and body the other.

    Kinda depends on what kinda Jeep ya got (what year I mean) as mentioned above the early Jeeps won't really accept a body lift due to the steering/redal setup however a later CJ (after 72) it's not so bad but yeat anything over an inch kinda looks goofy..
