I have just acquired these parts from a friend. Are these rear parts the same for my 69 Cj5? None of the holes in the rear cross member of the Cj5 match the gearbox. Did the PTO box mount on bracket then on the frame? Could you just have just the PTO with out the 3-point hitch? All the pics I could find on the net showed the PTO with the 3 point hitch.

I think you'll find the lenght of the shaft is different from 2a-3a to the CJ-5. My '56 has the PTO and no 3point hitch, came that way new. The rear crossmember needs a hole for the driveshaft to connect to the rear gearbox, the box itself doesn't have any special brackets IIRC, should bolt on. You do have a drawbar? Ask Kodiak here, I'm sure he'll clear it up for you. I can try and get a pic of mine if it helps.

Yes, the pto propeller shaft of a CJ5 is thicker and longer but the rear gear reduction box or rear pto should bolt right up. The vent should be on the left and facing up and it's the same w/ or w/o a drawbar.

Thanks for the info...So...The gearbox does bolt directly to the rear cross member and not to a bracket. Hmm the holes don’t seem to match up…. I need to check that again… I bet finding the Auxiliary gearbox that goes on the transfer case is going to be a tuff one

The drawbar that mounts to the crossmember and frame. Not 3 point drawbar. Not sure if you or I'm getting it confused any, but heres a picture of one. I believe one or two of the bolts mount to the crossmember, and a third mounts to the "support" bar that comes up from the angle iron on the drawbar. There's a large hole about 1 1/2" in the crossmember. Thats what the driveshaft for the pto goes thru. My aftermarket crossmember has the holes to mount the pto gearbox, but they are off a little. Needs to be reamed/enlarged for the box to fit.
    Hope this helps some.

I have two 18 H spicer pto's that mount to the transfercase and one drum pulley. These ptos are for sale as is the drum. The drum pulley mounts on that rear box and you can run a leather belt and power anything that is belt run. I just found a WWll T-1 compressor that was used to fill tires during the war but was also used in the civi market for the same thing and for spraying paint and pesticides. Trying to get the specs of the mounts to line it up w/ the drum pulley on my CJ5.
