Well I added a Trunk to the Jeep. Needed a place to keep things safe and from flying around. I bolted a 3/16" Diamond Plate Cover over the bed and beefed it up with angle iron so it can take a load on top of it. I made a end out of 18 ga steel so things would stay under it. Put 4 stainless steel 5/16" Eye Bolts to secure loads on top of the cover if needed. My spare will fit in the space but it fills the whole thing up! $70.00 investment including the angle iron and all bolts for the project. It gives me a place behind the seats allmost 10" deep to stash things and keep them from ending up in the back. Here is a picture of the finished Recever hitch also. Mark[IMG] [IMG]

Nice idea I might do something like that. How easy to get into? did you bolt it all the way round or hinges?

I bolted it down to stop it from rattleing. I also bolted the front end into the sides. top and bed bottom. I am going to spray bed liner inside it on the corners to water proof it and stop any sheet metal noise on the bumps. Like sound deadener lining. I bolted a 1 inch angle iron on the Tail Gate edge to give it strength and to have a place to put a dence rubber gasket to stop tail gate rattle. I also sealed the tail gate all the way around with the same material. As far as getting into it you just drop the tail gate, if you want it locked you can put a lock thru the tail gate latch hole. I used 1 inch angle iron on the front edge and sides of the seat end to be able to secure it. Materials = 1- 30" x 40" 3/16" Alum Diamond Plate(top), 3-36" x 1" x 1/8" angle Iron(rear, front & bottom) and 2- 9" x 1" X 1/8" angle iron(sides) and a bunch of 1/4" bolts. It is a couple hour job to install it and I knotched the top to fit the Tail Gate flush. Mark
