I was looking for some help when it comes to fixing my old CJ-5. Its 1980 and has a good amount of rust damage, from what we can tell so far I am needing new floor pans on both Drivers and Passengers side as well as the bed and rear wheel wells. I hope I named all the parts properly, I am pretty new to all this. I am looking for a easy way to repair these problems. At first i was just going to buy the replacement parts, i am finding that there is quite the diffrence in price between retailers. Where is the best place to buy them from, or would you suggest making some of the parts myself, such as the bed/wheel wells? Thanks for any help you can give, im sure i will have more questions as the process unfolds.

depending on your fab skills, you might be $$$ ahead to buy the replacements. depending on the amount of rust, a new tub might be needed ($$$$$$$).

Some of the simple parts would be easy to make. But, as 66cj5 has said you might be better off buying most of them.

You also need to look at the spots where the panels join the body sides. Mine has similar floor issues and its pointless to fix as the body sides are just as bad. If I started cutting out all the rust spots and damaged areas there wouldn't be anything left. I also worked on one body and while trying to straigten out a floor pan the seams just pulled apart. It was so old there was nothing but rust holding the panels together. :D

I think I will just start from scratch on my next jeep.

You might also find a used tub in good condition or at least better than yours to start from.
