I had the same, 4d Maglite. We got rid of them in the mid-2000s as the super bright compact flashlights started coming out. We all carried Asp batons by that point anyway, and "flashlight" wasn't an authorized use of force other than exigent circumstances unless of course you were using the dazzle feature on the newer torches.

In the 70's in Northern Fla., I rode along with a Sheriff Deputy about once a week for his night shift. I was not allowed to carry a pistol. I did carry a 4 D cell Maglite that made me feel a lot better. I was shown how to mostly disable a person with a blow to the side of a knee.

Looks like the 6D Maglite puts out 694 lumens (led). My Streamlight 2020 puts out 2k.

Although there's something about the size of the 6D Maglite.... :bananatool:

My Maglite is currently holding down the the rolled corner of a carpet. But I am liking that streamlight to throw in the glovebox...

Got a few of the Mag 6D's.
    Old school now.
Got a Nebo flashlight as a gift. Love it.
Rechargeables are the way to go now!

The best flashlight I ever had was a Fenix, I swear it would burn holes in planets in the next galaxy but some jack wagon stole that out of my truck. Thrunight is also top shelf. I currently have a couple of others, a Pelican which is really solid and the more pedestrian streamlight stylus pro (my EDC).

My Streamlight 2020 charges via cradle, or you can remove both rechargeable batteries and charge them via USB. My Stylus is USB also, nice to plug it in when I'm on the car and leave it charging.

I recently acquired a '92-'95 Maglite 6D that I quite like. I put a 500-lumen LED bulb in it, but the incandescent wasn't that bad (Probably because it had a crapload of batteries backing it up). As I said before, the thwocking power is unbeatable, and there's something about the D-cell maglites that I just like.

More recently, I picked up an Olight Arkfeld Pro and Oclip Pro that I'm going to use for work.
I've been clipping the Oclip into my polo shirt, and it is very nice when one is laying down and working above their head. Personally I prefer it over a headlamp, but I think it's just preference; I don't see any particular reasons it is better than a headlamp.
The Arkfeld is pretty nice too. Sits nicely in my pocket beside my knife. It has a laser on it, which I've found quite useful for pointing out particular components in dimly-lit engine bays.
