I have a 73 cj and was looking to swap out the springs. It is spring over with 2 inch lift springs. Its a little to high and the driveshaft hates it. So I was looking up on other sites about the wrangler spring swap. All the stuff I seen was for the 76 and newer jeeps. The older cjs need the front and rear springs swapped. So has anyone done this on here? What did you use for hangers?

I did mine. You have to cut off and replace the main eye spring hangers and the shackle hangers. Check out.. http://www.hudsonhawk.net/jeep/jeepmain.htm
This is my project site with some good pics showing what I had to do.

Me and my friends have done tons of these on CJs and Commandos. When we did mine we took measurements where the original hangers, the main eyes, and the center pins were on the old springs and cut off the old ones. The sell conversion kits that come with all the hardware but I just bought the shackle hangers and had the main eye hangers made at my dad's metal shop. We just weld them on so that the center pin on the wrangler springs are in the same spot as the old springs were. We have had to move the shackle hangers sometimes but no big deal. Jack it up, cut it, measure it, move it, weld it...Done.
