    Ditch the Ford engine and trans, install a 225, D18 and trans of your choice.

    Cannot say about the transfercase adapting. But I can say those 200 cu in ford motors are good reliable engines. I had a 68 mustang with one of them. And a 3 speed straight shift. drove it 100K plus, used no oil, 21mpg around town and 26 0n the road. I Floated the valves between every shift while I owned it, never hurt it.

    now just thinking this out
    I would say the owner did the ford and transmission swap
    just to have a running vehicle . 2WD only . then gave up
