So... I'm looking for a replacement. The feed motor for the 35 is no longer available along with a bunch of other stuff. It is at least 42 years old, but it has been an excellent welder and my go to machine. I hate to lose it. I know the transformer windings for the best welds.

I have been looking at a Miller 215. I like Miller and will stay with the brand. I got a Miller Spoolmate for my 35, but never have used it. I think I may be able to use it with the 215. I also have a Miller Maxstar 140 TIG welder but it doesn't have a foot pedal. I got a Millermatic 90 for a special project years ago which paid for it. It's to small for my use but runs on 115V.

The 215 looks like it would replace the Millermatic 35, 90, and Maxstar. My 35 weighs 238 lbs and the 215 weighs 38 lbs.

Any one have a 215? Opinions? About $3K with TIG stuff...

    Cary...

Ebay has a few used motors. They're pricy.

I’d like to have the Multimatic 220 but the truth is my Lincoln 200 squarewave is doing just fine so long as I don’t plan to mig weld.
If I’m not mistaken the Miller 215 only has dc tig.
Obviously that’s fine if you never weld aluminum.

Old MillerMatic 130 quit feeding, turned out to be the liner.
Works like new now, need a Mig for heavier gauge projects.

That is what I thought at first. A new liner cost as much as a new aftermarket MIG gun. They no longer make cups for the original gun. I bought a new gun only to find out the motor had stopped...

Check the voltage on both motor rectifiers and they were good...

The more I read about the Miller 215 the more I want one. I weld steel most and a lot of stainless steel. I've got a big Miller Dialarc HF for aluminum. I have yet to use it. It is set up for TIG welding with a water cooled torch. Gift from a good friend...

I would still look for a NOS or used feed motor. The old machines weld so much better than the newer machines, in my opinion. I think is has to do with copper coils and old-school contactors/relays. A lot to do with that 238lbs.
I have an almost 30 year old AutoArc 250 by Miller and hope it lives forever. I also have the Miller spool gun, but have only used it a few times.
