1944 Ford Gpw

Time to start a thread for this rig.
I picked it up last month because it was a smoking deal.

Original shipped to Colorado in 1944, stayed there for most of its life, then in the 70s it went to Texas. Stayed in Texas as a hunting vehicle. It was taken apart to rebuild and the gentleman passed away. The wife sent it to Columbia SC where thier son lived. He lived on a boat and put the jeep in a storage unit the entire time. Then decided it need to have a new home. I then took it home.







Once in the garage i put it kind of back together. It is missing some heres and theres, but mainly intact. Unmolested except for the fenders, but the fenders were made like this a very long time ago. There is lots of brazing used to fab them. And a very bad Spring over. They just placed it on top of the brackets that prevent the leaf spring ubolts apart.

Last night I righted the wrongs and put the axles back spring under. Now the Jeep can actually steer. Previously it was only able to turn left because the spring over prevented it from steering right.





I put it up on the lift and was astonished with the condition of the underbody.













I am trying to figure out of it is still original under there or was it restored at some point years ago. My gut is saying original. Cleanest early Jeep I ever brought home.
