    Hello all,

I’m new to the forum. I have a 1972 AMC CJ5 with the 258 I6. I have a new noise coming from I think the fan, or at least that general area at higher rpm’s usually above 45mph, that to me sounds like a rattle or the fan blade barely hitting on something. The blades show no indication of contact. Usually the faster the louder it gets. But under 45 it just purrs along. Anyone else experience this? Thanks

Check the fan's thermostat hub, if it has one.

Post a pick of your engine bay, it will help with our dart throwing. What do your belts look like

Remove the fan belt and see if the noise goes away.
Then remove the fan and put the belt back on.
    See if the noise returns.
Inspect the fan for cracks and replace if there are any. Fan blades have killed people.

Thank you all for the suggestions so far. I have not had time to work on the Jeep but will update once I do, and I will also try to upload a picture. Please keep the suggestions coming.

Replaced water pump and noise seems be gone, so maybe a bearing or the impeller was beginning to go bad.
