My horn has stopped working. Doesn't move when pushed. Was working last I had checked until I needed it :) Is there a certain way to pull the cover off to get at the inner workings? I see that the repro cover just falls off at random for most people but this would be an original so of course I don't want to break the 70 year old plastic bits if I can help it. Lightly prying with a screw driver doesn't seem like it is gonna work.

Is it the little button or the big flat rubber disk?

Apparently it's stuck, as in sealed/adhered . Try breaking the seal with a blunt flat-blade screwdriver (popsicle stick dull). Work your way around pushing in on the rubber? just above the steering wheel. If it is at all flexible, just working a 1/4" at a time, as you travel around the 360, may allow a gentle enough attack to break the "seal".

The heavier made plastic body trim tools work well for this and don't mar up the steering wheel.

That Summit listing doesn’t represent the horn push very well. There are two very different sizes, though they are very similar in shape. The large horn push used on “later” Kaiser CJs is about 2-3/8” (if I recall), almost the diameter of a tennis ball. The Willys horn push is less than half that size. The Summit listing gives no clue as to which application they are offering, plus it describes it as “plastic”. It probably the small version unless the nut is enlarged, and the originals are made of rubber.

Maybe use a little gentle hair-dryer heat to make it more pliable?

Thanks guys, no plastic tools were gonna get that thing off she was well stuck in there. Almost as if it was glued in. Out and replaced with the meh quality one that might last a year or two before the "rubber" is gone. At least my horn works for now.
