Hello and thanks for taking time to read this.

I'm using the Novak kits to re-seal my 1970 V6 transmission and transfer case, in an effort to make this the best repair possible, what are the opinions on using speedy shims where applicable? Does anyone have the sizes needed or part numbers?

    Thank you!

I take it you are looking for the speedi sleeves for the output yokes. As Duffer said, it may be cheaper or the same price to source new yokes.
In my case, I needed to sleeve the small front yoke with the small u-joint. I need it for my application and they are hard to find. Also, to use the
larger front yoke/u-joint, the front drive shaft will need to be redone to match the yoke. Also used Locktite 7649 cleaner/activator and Locktite
640 sleeve retainer. SKF 99156 sleeves. The SKF 99155 sleeves are slightly smaller and may work and are used on the D-27 front yoke.

What sort of shape are the yokes in? If not pitted or grooved enough to feel with a fingernail just polish them up.

And use a good double lipped seal. My seals were rock hard after years of waiting for me and
I wanted to fix it once the second time.:D

Speedy-Sleeves are also not a guaranteed fix. I attempted using one on a worn yoke many years age, and ended up trashing it on the attempted install. I got it pressed about halfway on, and it snagged a bit and wrinkled up. I found a better used yoke with a fresh seal and that fix worked for decades.

The way to do that is heat and cold. Throw the yoke in the freezer, and set the sleeve in the oven set to warm (you may want to wait till the wife isn't home :madwife:!)

I used speedy sleeves on both yokes, copper gasket spray on the shims, and Permatex Right Stuff on all the gaskets, and I have a leak free D18!

I have used the sleeves on all sorts of "stuff" going on 6 decades. They are most applicable for things that are made of unobtainium or something you are going to waiting an extended period for a replacement, but they really do work well on yokes. I would also use one on a stock Dana yoke before I purchased a omix ada/crown replacement. Dana/Spicer still manufactures most of the yokes. I purchase of those from Denny's:

Denny's also carries NEAPCO, another quality supplier.
