This is not true. The 225 was still called the Fireball V6. From a 1965 Buick sales brochure:



As another data point:

My dad bought the 1965 Buick V6 in his GPW from a wrecking yard in the early 70s. He pulled the complete motor out of the actual car. The air cleaner that came with the engine has a big "Fireball V6" sticker on it.

Hence my username, I thought it was the greatest thing ever as a kid.

It's getting hard to read the decal these days, but it's still on there:

 

I bet that would fit in my '63 dodge dart, but a one barrel?

My dad did find an intake manifold and put a two barrel on his.

 

Huh...that is the direction my vacuum canister points to.

 

Buick had used the Fireball name long before the V6. 1931 to 1953 as a straight-8. Now we know where you got your handle from.

I have one on an engine stand. Ran when I pulled it. Smoked a little bit but sounded better than that one. Still complete back to the belhousing.
Who knows. May rebuild it someday.

 

I'm just amazed that the seller knew it was a Super Turbine 300 and not a Powerglide. Everyone thinks any 2 speed auto is a 'Glide.
