Need some help from our resident experts on wiper location (over/under glass) and
Single driver side or dual wipers.
Seems to be a Grey area on CJ's
My 64 built tux has one hole on drivers side above glass and a slight indentation on passenger side that looks to have never had a motor.
I have done some searching but have not really found much definitive info.
    What came from the factory?
    Were Tuxedo Parks different?
Were wipers a dealer installed option?
Were heater and defrosters an option?
I bought a cowl to windshield seal that has cutouts for possibly defroster vents but my windshield has not cutouts.

Also if possible I sure could use a pic of wire routing out of dash and up the windshield to the motors.

Putting a basketcase together is very challenging.
    Many thanks in Advance!!!

All the Tuxedo Parks (even the Mark I II & III) had wipers for both driver and passenger. The Tuxedo Parks came standard with wipers. The wiper motors were the same for both the Universal jeeps and Tuxedo Park models. The difference from a Tuxedo Park model and the Universal was the added chrome features and softer 2-rate springs.
The Tuxedo Parks came with a heater/defrost

Your windshield may have been swapped.
In my gallery, I have a pictures of a Tuxedo Park brochure.

Pictures would be helpful, dash and inside of windshield frame...
What color are your upper hinges on the windshield frame? Does your dash have a large 3/4"-1" diameter hole on the left by the hazard switch?

Wipers were an option They were probably vaccuum powered for 64. someone more knowledgeable can verify.

Are you trying to be "original" or are you leaving yourself room to play.
The reason I ask is I also have a 64'. I got sick of never being able to see stoplights or road signs and replaced my w/s with a new (chinese) repop version of a 69' that had the round top glass. It was the best upgrade I ever did. With that came powered wipers (theres a big cut out that needs a motor) and I just ran the power wire down the side of my dash and used a pre existing hole in the dash to mount the switch. Mounted the relay under the dash. Never had to drill a single hole.

Rich, it sounds like your windshield frame is not original with it lacking the defroster holes. The correct frame has straight topped glass as opposed to the curved top glass in post #4.
Your year (‘64) Tux came with two black painted Trico vacuum wiper units mounted above the glass. The vacuum wipers mounted by a chrome screw on either side of the splined shaft protruding for the wiper arm. The knob to actuate is chrome, as is the outside padded stand-off to guard the wiper arm when the windshield is lowered (mounting bolts also chrome). The rubber vacuum line comes through a grometted hole in the dashboard to the left of the steering column, going to the drivers side first. There is an aluminum “Y” by the drivers side vacuum unit that branches to the passenger side vacuum unit.
This should be the same for a regular CJ5 of similar vintage, except for the chrome features.

shows the defrost holes on the bottom of the windshield frame, and on the body of the Jeep where the defrost duct comes out.

I am not sure if he was referring to these holes or the louvered holes at the top.
    Pictures would be helpful.

Yes thank you. That frame appears to have had some extensive repairs. Does it have the louvers at the bottom of the glass?
With the rust I am seeing, it may be time to look for a new windshield frame?

Yeah that's gonna be a trick to fix. Having a little experience with my own windshield frame and wipers I would likely go this route, no one but us on this forum will know the glass and lower wipers arn't right.

Here's a side by side comparison of the two windshield frames... note how the hardtop jeep feels bigger and more open than the regular windshield and bikini top.

It does appear roomier with the flat top. Now add a front hoop for a roll cage and sun-visors. Thickness of the
seat cushion will also make a difference. I lowered my seat brackets by about an 1-1/2". The only issue I have is
if I am the first one at the stoplight.:D

My '51 Pontiac had a prism mounted on the dash, that allowed the driver to see the stoplight from under the external visor. Common in that era.

You could have a forward facing camera and a screen of your choice. :D
