Dash And Windshield Latch Questions

Need help finding Windshield hold up latches. Can't seem to find them on any of the normal jeep parts sites.
Mine is a 65 Tuxedo Park but not concerned if I can't find chrome repro latches. As you can see in the pic the latches are gone and replaced with bent metal straps.


Also, what is the proper dash location for the light pull knob, choke and throttle pull knobs? I have looked at many pics but the locations are all over the place from jeep to jeep.
Did 65's come standard with a cig lighter and the strange courtesy light mounted on dash?

My 67 does not have a hole for a cigarette lighter, nor does it have a courtesy light but both were popular add ons back in the day.

Wow it’s actually good to see my switches/knobs are actually in the intended positions. I had kind of just assumed they were haphazardly thrown in places that were convenient for the PO.

Although, I’ve never seen the “starter switch” before.

Was that just a floor button to hit once the key was turned in the ignition to “on”? Similar to the dimmer switch?

Cool to see it officially though.

 

I think the dash layout pictured above is correct for a 65.
Somewhere in the late 60's everything changed, we've had threads about this before.

Yeah, $45 each is expensive. I looked through my shelves for a good set of used ones. I have plenty for a CJ2A, none for a CJ5. Reproduction latches for the CJ2A / MB are all over the place, but for some reason CJ5 just aren't out there. Makes a set of the Advance Adaptor latches look more attractive.

 

That dash photo is actually accurate for an early 1955 model. Note the 6V King Seeley 0-10 speedo, starter switch on the tunnel, and heater blanking plate on the passenger footwell, carried directly over from the M38a-1

The price and availability of latches is through the roof. I'll definitely watch for these at swap meets. I'm sure I have latches off some windshield frames I sold this summer. Let me know if you need them.

 

Now I feel old.

I thought all Jeeps had one.

 

I saw some of the latches on Facebook Market today, listed with a bunch of other parts. If I get time tomorrow I'll look for that add again and post a link.

Thing is, I've had several of those. My Willys pickups also had a foot starters, so did my M-715, and my Model T Fords, AND my '34 Ford pickup. Seems normal to me.

Ironically I would actually have no clue how to start a new car. Truly. I hear stories of push buttons and fobs...?

 

All this newfangled stuff is just more potential problems. My SNL bought a new 2023 diesel truck with remote start feature. Was having problems coming out to go home from work and the truck would be sitting there running, already up to full operating temp. Only at work. Thought maybe the security system there where he worked had something to do with it.
