Working on restoring a '63 CJ-5 with the F-134 engine, and was hoping to service the carburetor. From what I can tell, a Carter YF 7051S is currently installed. Not much information out there, but it seems like it came on some 70s Ford 6 Cylinder engines and was likely not original.

    1. Am I correct in assuming that this carburetor can not be used on on the F-134 engine, seems like the air flow would be much too high?
    2. If so, are there any replacement model recommendations? I have gathered that the Carter YF carbs are decent quality over the generic and Solex options. Are there specific model recommendations for the Carters? Any other good options?
    Thanks for the help!

Carter YF 938SD was the original carburetor for the F134. I'm guessing if you ask in the classifieds here someone might have a spare they would part with. Beware these are often well worn and need an overhaul to function properly.

Welcome from Michigan, I have two motors with Carter YF carbs, they are both completely rebuilt, including new shaft bushings, the both start and run like they should. The real problem is the kits you get don't always work well, I bought one and only used the gaskets, and they need to be fixed to work right. I was able to use the original parts to make it work, it runs good now at idle or top end. Rick
