    Hello,
I'm in the putting back together stage of my jeep build and I have a question on what the proper/best way to mount the tub to the frame is. My tub is some sort of mystery aftermarket one and my frame is from Throttle Down Customs. I also have a set of urethane bushings for it.
So it looks like the original way was a 1/2 bolt through the tub, washer, bushing, frame, washer, and then nut.
Is this how it is supposed to be? Is there a better way?
I was wondering if there should be a bushing on the underside of the frame mount too like on the newer style jeeps. My thought is that the old setup only dampers on compression and is solid on tension. Thoughts? Is there another way that is way better or am I completely over thinking this?
    Thanks in advance

No need for a bushing on the underside of the frame.
Align as many holes as possible. You will most likely have to drill a couple holes somewhere on the frame or the body. I would suggest the body over the frame

I put Urethane bushings on my body used stainless bolts, carriage bolts in the foot well, and under the gas tank shimmed the gas tank up about an eighth inch, it doesn't hurt the neck location. Let's water and dirt out from under the tank. I put bushing under the firewall where the wood was and made them slide on the bushing by not bolting them through. Made a stud there. The bushings raised the body abound 3/4" made it easier to clean to under body. Good luck what ever you do. Rick

Especially if you're planning to use floor mats, I'd suggest using 1/2" carriage bolts in the front floorboard locations. Hex heads tend to puncture through the mats pretty easily.

    Aftermarket frame and body ?

I suggest starting with the front, get the grill where it is supposed to be, then the fenders, then the tub. Once the tub is bolted to the fenders you can align the tub to the frame and bolt it down. You don't want to bolt on the body and find out later that the grill and fenders don't line up.

I just use bushings between the body and mounts as was done originally.

I would suggest mounting the body on the frame the way the factory did; 1/4” or 3/8” rectangular rubber pad between the tub and the frame. If you need more clearance (tunnel over trans), you can use hockey pucks about 1” thick.
I use bolts with a generous washer or fender washer on the body side, and a heavy flat washer and lock washer under the chassis mounts. Carriage bolts are an option for the front floors and tool box (if your tub has one).
