Off Road Tires For Stock '59

Our CJ5 is used exclusively for farm chores, so it only runs on gravel and dirt.

It's been wearing road tires (and I think they are too large as well, which causes rubbing and limits the turning radius).

Any recommendations for offroad 600x16 tires? Would love to keep it under $100/tire if possible.

Anything I need to check out or confirm in terms of sizing before going further?

That's a hard ask theses days. Walmart maybe?

 

Those should work. 29" overall and 6.5" section.
My only concern would be in deeper snow or mud.

Indeed. Not turning up much. A friend here recommended looking at tractor tires, thought they would be cheaper.

 

Norsemans or Desert Dogs would be a great choice.

No, it's just ground clearance and as Glenn mentioned flotation. It's a good 1.5" difference at the axle where the ruts and wind rows are. It also translates to less mud in the brakes and all.

I'm running 32" 7.50-16 on mine and they work pretty well, both jeeps here have 7.50-16 trans Trac lt's (discontinued)

I have been running a set of Deestone 600X16 NDT tires on my CJ2A, which is mostly used as a farm Jeep, for four years with no problems. I have a set of Power King "Super traction" 700 X 15 on my CJ5 which have been on it for three years and they perform well too, with very similar tread as the tire in your link.

I will be using 700 X 16 NDTs on the Jeep I am currently building.

 

Like the ones you linked, I insist on "mud and snow" M&S treads, the chunkier the better.

A wide tire may "float" better on soft ground, but OTH a skinny tire may cut through snow and find traction beneath.

 

Did you read the reviews? I'm hard pressed to think this is a real review... if it is.... I REALLY WANT TO SEE THIS JETTA!

The small shop I normally go to does not have anything that will work. I will call around some other places locally.

Haha I missed that. I learned to drive on an 85 Jetta and would have loved to have a set of these.
