I had an unfortunate incident while removing my transmission and broke the speedometer cable for my '67 CJ5 with T14. Does anyone make a decent replacement currently? I see some advertised as being for use with a 4 speed transmission which seems odd given the year ranges. Some have flats for a hex wrench on both ends instead of finger splines. I'm getting lost trying to find one. Thanks.

I would avoid omix or crown. I had an omix cable that broke after less than 50 miles. I also had a cable from O'Reilly auto but cant remember the brand it was good quality but way too long even though it was supposed to be for my application. Dont know about longevity because the speedo grenaded itself. Went to a gps unit

I've used Crown ones on plenty of my Jeeps with no issues.

Thanks for the replies. I got one from my FLAPS for about $8. The ends look the same but the wind or thread of the inner cable is opposite direction of the old one. I seem to recall this is an issue that can cause gear oil to be carried up to the instrument? Not sure if that's an old wives' tale or a real concern. I have a Crown unit supposed to arrive today, I will check that one out.

Seems like I saw a Universal kit somewhere Ken, with different ends for it. Can't remember where I saw them?

I bought a replacement cable from Deluxe Speedometer in Colorado several years ago (https://deluxespeedometer.com/). It has a steel casing like the originals, and it has worked great:

The cable I bought from them was for a T-86 3-speed, and the part was "Cable and casing 2N-60 steel casing". This may or may not be the same cable needed for a T-14, I don't know.

When I swapped from a T-14 3 spd to a T-18 4 spd, the same cable worked fine. There was enough slack to make up the difference.

Thanks for the replies. The Crown unit came today and appears to be a match for length and twist of the cable. The transfer case end has a hard rubber liner in it. Hopefully that will help with the leaks. If this doesn't work I'll check out Deluxe Speedometer

Speedometer shops can make quality cables for you. I had my cable break, and it took out my 90-degree gear reduction unit. I replace it with an in-line unit, because the
90-degree units aren't serviceable anymore. I also had them make a short cable from the transfer case to the gear reduction, then another from it to the speedometer.
