Is there a “best” tilt-wheel steering column to for an intermediate CJ5? What do you guys typically see installed?

Summit has universal columns for a bit over $300, but maybe a pick & pull can provide one as good for $25…?

I think I've seen a lot of flaming river, summit, and gm columns over the years. Gotta match up tube size, length, and spline count for both ends. Matching electrical plugs is a plus.

I have and still use the ones from Summit (slotted for the '63 build now) - good quality and every bit as good as the Flaming River ones I've used in the past.

I installed “G body” tilt column in my YJ. My factory steering wheel fit so it looks stock. My youngest daughter drive it back and forth to high school and needed the wheel closer to her .

do you still have the Ross box?

Mine is a ‘74, so it’s (or should be) a Saginaw box. It’s a manual but will be swapped for a power box, since the new engine has a PS pump on it.

By “G Body”, do you mean a GM mid-size car - Monte Carlo, Regal, etc.?

Yes. You can get them cheap at pick and pull yards.there was a guy near me that would sell them for $75 with new keys. I found him on eBay. I can try to see if he is still doing them. Let me know and I will look

    edit

I did a little searching and boy they have jumped in price. The guy I bought from no longer has a listing. But I found this site where you can search

Sigh, I have always wanted a tilt column, but now on fixed income, I guess I'll just leave that on the dream list.
